: 2007 GM Nationals @ Carlisle Fun and Pics
LeoC2 06-24-2007, 03:54 PM Well I'm back from GM Carlisle FINALLY! It took me over 7 hours as the Elky overheated in NY in a huge traffic jam caused by the Gay Pride Parade! Oh Lord was that a whacky sight!
We all had a great time... Jim and Nephew, Jim and Son, Brian and his bad knee, me, and many others. There where 10 Elkys present! I sure hope we can get even more participants next year, this is a great event with lots of great cars to see. Anyone who is hesitant about coming because you think your car isn't quite good enough, it doesn't matter. What matters is that we all had a good time and got to meet each other.
The weather was magnificent! Carlisle is usually steaming hot or miserable with cold and rain... this weekend averaged 75 degrees, no humidity, clear blue skies, beast I've ever seen at Carlisle.
There were only 2 Elky classes, 1st/2nd Gen, 3/4/5 Gen. Hopefully next year we'll have at least three: 1/2 Gen, 3/4 Gen, and 5th Gen which will more evenly represent that cars in attendance.
Jim Faucett (Quintonsdusty) took First in his class, 1st/2nd Gen
Sue something took First in the 3/4/5 Gen. with a very tricked out 3rd Gen
Brian Shook took 2nd with his beautiful Grabber Orange 3rd Gen.
I took 3rd which was a real shock considering all the great cars we had.
I have lots of pics to post and I'll do that as soon as I can.

The El Camino Kid 06-25-2007, 09:55 AM Leo, you should have got 1st man. That El camino that won is the worst paint scheme for an elco.
PaPa Johns 77 06-25-2007, 11:34 AM 8) Thanks for another show Leo! You should have won! It was great to see a 4th Generation Elky in the show too.
8) I almost forgot! Congratulations on the 1st place Jim! A well deserved honor! Love that Elky!
Jim Magill 06-25-2007, 11:40 AM That El camino that won is the worst paint scheme for an elco.
I wouldn't go so far as to say that. We were parked along side of them and I can say first hand that the paint was very well done. The airbrushing on the back was excellant and the metalflake was perfect. Not everyones taste but it's their truck.
BTW Leo, Nice job on the pictures and again it was a pleasure to meet you. Congrats on a third.
hemi57 06-25-2007, 02:25 PM Congratulations to those of you who won a prize and all who participated. It is great for me to see pics of Elkies as they are so rare here in OZ. Pity I cannot see that 4th Gen
Jim, I have said it before but I'll say again, that ride of yours is sweet.
. . . .That El camino that won is the worst paint scheme for an elco.

Mr. Faucett, Congratulations. . .well deserved. . . :D
The El Camino Kid 06-25-2007, 05:14 PM dcar the one I talking about is the one with the scallops it is a scheme that looks good on hot rods but not on el camino maybe if it had come out of the wheel well and run down the side.
Congrats Jim

Congrats Jim
it's hard to tell from the picture but those acents where rich with metal flake, it was quite a good paint job. Personally I would not have gone with the Rhino Lining bed or painted chromework but everyone has their own taste and all in all it was an impressive custom. The tailgate was molded in and was done very well, the spider web was very realistic.

I'm with you Leo - I would not have done the bed liner also, but the scallops and the air brush/art work, I think, look great. Obviously, work has gone into the car. From the pictures, it does look like the molded tailgate took some work.
All in all - a very nice looking ride. . . :D
Camino LS6 06-26-2007, 07:38 PM It was a great show with perfect weather and I took a ton of pics. Unfortunately, by the time I found "Camino Row" the camera was elsewhere. If you'd like to see my non-Camino pics they can be found here: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18069
I hope to have my 4th gen there for next year's show.
JRSoct24 06-26-2007, 09:18 PM The hero truck represents what dedication and hard work can acheive in the paint itsself and the story it tells. This truck is a monument to what we as americans can achieve. I like this truck because it shows the hardships we as a nation have come through through the faces of the people.
I love this truck it has to be my favorite paint scheme ever.
Just thought i would share my oppinion while it was fresh on my mind.
Quintonsdusty 06-27-2007, 04:44 AM Thank you all for the congratulations. We all had a wonderful time. 75% of the award winners are ecc members. I was in great company.
I posted a number of pics in the gallery under Car shows and have more to add. All of the Elky's are shown and I'll add the Beauty contest and other select pics from the field.
Next year we should have a lot more ECC members there. This is a fun show.
