I dont understand completely how this works. I looked at the tag and it was hard to read but this is what i have. Can someone decode this for me?
ST 74 1AD80 Z 124218 BDY
TR 707A65 24 24 PNT
12B 124218 830042
Here is what is known from the body tag:
ST 74 1AD80 Z 124218 BDY
ST is short for STyle
74 - 1974
1AD80 - El Camino Classix 2 dr pickup delivery
Z - Fremont CA assembly plant code
124218 - Body serial number (NOTE-No relationship to the VIN, 2 different numbers)
TR 707A65 24 24 PNT
TR is short for TRim
707 - Black cloth seat trim
A65 - Seat type option code - Bench seat w/arm rest
24 24 - Paint codes, 1st letter = lower; 2nd = upper, both same so a solid color car (as opposed to a 2 tone), 24 - Light Blue Metallic

12B 124218 830042
12B - Production week of December 1974, 2nd week of
124218 830052 is known as the Data Processing Sequence Number. Nothing about the car configuration, just a computer generated number used in processing. It was put on the body so the workers in the body bank scheduling the bodies to the final line could cross reference to the dealer order and plant build orders in the plant computer system so the right car was processed with the right equipment and sequenced to the line so all other feeder lines would be in synch.
