I've been trying to get back in the game and finally refinished my chassis. Next up are the brakes. I've heard numerous stories of boneyard disc conversions working just as well as what OPGI or SSBC have to offer. Montes, Novas and the like are mentioned as donor cars but not with any real depth as to the parts used, especially as to what year models. Can someone fill me in on if I need the spindles, master cylinder, proportioning valve, and anything else, too? I'm a college student and doing this on the cheap. You know how it goes. :cool:

I converted a 65 elky years ago. I found a 72 chevelle at a boneyard and took the entire spindle assembly from ball joint-to-ball joint. Buy a NEW master cylinder for that application. I would use an adjustable proportioning valve between the M/C and rear junction block. The downside to this approach is you may end up forking out money to get the rotors turned or replaced, calipers rebuilt, wheel bearings replaced etc. The parts you need probably wont be in good condition on a car that old.
