Are we talking about vinyl or cloth? On new vinyl seat covers I used a straight pin in the general location of the internal bracket to find the screw hole. On cloth I used a finish nail through the original hole to locate the mounting bracket...

Do you mean you lost the hole or is the guide still fasten to the internal bracket and just bent in at the bottom?Do you have buckets or bench?I had this problem with my bucket seat headrest, the stress from the belt pulling back and down either bends them or breaks the guide.First make sure the screws are snug and very gently pull the guide up,be extra carefull not to break the guide, so don't force it.The internal brkt.is thin so it should'nt be hard to bend back to its normal location.I pulled the cover off first to see if the brkt. was visable but the foam like material seemed to be glued to the frame work so I left it alone and did it the other way.You probably can do the bench the same way.I'm assuming you have seats in your 82 like the 85-87 years. Also I chose not to use the factory guides,I used the guides off a mid 80s Camaro, they mount right to the same holes and hold the belts much better. PS. If you are afraid you might break your guide ,just use the screw with something more rigid.I'm sure there's a better method but this worked for me.
