I 've got an 82 Elky with the stock 305 and original feedback carb.

When I start it for the first time of day or if its been sitting all day without being started, the choke sets and it idles SO fast and SO long its really irritating and probably not too good on the tranny if I put it in gear because it lurches so bad.

Is there an adjustment I can make to the choke to slow the fast idle down ?

I'm not too knowledgable when it comes to carbs so make it simple and specific please!

If there is an adjustment screw to turn or something like that please say where its located. Thanks in advance for your help!

There is a fast idle screw on the passenger side of the carb(opposite the linkage). It's a small screw on a arm near the base. I wish I could be more specific but it's been a long time since I have seen one.

Thanks Tommy, I'll look for it and see if that fixes the problem.

big bear - Even though the guy at shucks said the new alt. is "ok"...consider havin' it bench tested. Rebuilt alts ain't always up to spec!

May also be the battery.
