I noticed a switch or something near the 4-barrel carb that I think was used to kick up the idle when the A/C was ON. Mine does nothing A/C ON or OFF and there is no wire attached. I looked around for a wire and think it may have been removed years ago. I think the switch must be stopped in the fast idle position as the RPMs seem high. I wonder where the missing wire came from?

The fast idle solenoid is wired in to the a/c clutch circuit, and cycles on and off with the clutch. The wire out of the switch is only a few inches long, therefore the connection should be right near it on the drivers side if it still exsists,

Sorry about the delayed reply. My new SBC DSL thinks mail from this forum is spam so they trashed all messages. I think it is now fixed.
Looks like someoe replaced the compressor and may have ditched the wire to the fast idle solenod. The car seems to run okay so I am not going to worry about.
