Midlake Crisis

Hi all, first post and rookie when it comes to El Caminos. I have been looking around for a cool/fun third vehicle that I can haul a jet ski in. Right now the front runner is a 64-67 El Camino. I don't want a major project and don't have to have a show car, just something cool and clean and hopefully reliable to take to the lake.
Any info or input will be much appreciated, I need to figure out if I am on the right track, or if I should just go with a standard pickup (like a '72 C10)?
I have been browsing Craigslist quite a bit, but if anybody knows of anything that will fit the bill in Bakersfield or close by, please let me know.

Just a note from Region 10. Have you looked on Craigslist? Seems there are usually a few El Caminos on it in the larger metro areas. Try this link.

Thanks for that - yeah, I am a Craigslist hound.
I found this one that I like:

Asking is $7500, and it is a little light on the niceties. Seat needs redone, has no AC, rust in one rear quarter. Seller says the automatic transmission has an overdrive, and the 350 motor was rebuilt recently. Engine compartment looks like that is probably true:

Performer intake, flat black paint on exterior (not primer).
It is a couple hours drive away, but if I don't find anything closer soon I may drive down and check it out next weekend. Any thoughts on rough estimate of the value, what else to look for, etc. ?

Might want to post the question about value in the BS section so that more people can see it and give an answer.
