The last few times it has rained, I find that my carpet is wet on the passenger side under the mat. I had the windshield replaced about 2 years ago and when I replaced the heater core I did rechalk that back good. Don't know how rain is getting in. I need to get this fixed before I get new carpet. Has anybody had similiar problem?

Pull the carpet back and have someone run the hose on it while you watch and see where it is getting in. HTH

I have the same problem, but mine is more than likely around the windshild. Leafs and stuff have gathered up there so it blocks the water from draining off.
I took the trim off to recalk, and it rains, hard!

I haven't had a problem with my Elky leaking. It isn't allowed in the rain. However, my Bonneville is another story. I've had both door seals relaced twice before and had the problem occur again last month. I had 2 inches of water in the floor pan. Another brand new door seal seams to have done it this time. I'd do the garden hose test. Sooner or later, it will show you where the leak is at.

I have the same problem 85elcaminoman. I had a new windshield installed on my '85 and have passenger side water accumulation as well. There were some pieces of plastic or vinyl that are located under the trim at the corners of the windshield in the cowl originally. I noticed that the autoglass tech had removed them and thru them out. When I asked if they prevent leakage, he said they are to minimize wind noise and prevent debris from building up but don't seal water out. I wonder if that is causing the leak. Do you still have those installed on yours?

I have seen some people talk of "smugglers" leaking. Can anyone elaborate on what they are or where they are located?

The smuggler area is the storage area behind the seats. Some owners have had water enter there from the bed and rear window leaks causing rust problems.

I believe the name comes from people smuggeling contraband and/or people back there....Doug

I finally got around to trying to find the water leak. I removed the glove box and bottom trim and pulled back the carpet. I ran the water hose like 464 Elky suggested. It turned out that I actually had two leaks. One was coming in at the bottom of the air vent box. The other was coming in the hole where the wire connector was snapped into the back of the heater core box. Everything is dry now! Thanks to all that answered.

I had the same problem with my air box and had my paint guy seal it up with some epoxy. I did the hose method to find the leak and it has been holding up fine with the water hose method cause my baby dont see rain now she has been painted.

 Actually, Jim had the perfect cure. Don't allow them to get in the rain! :P

You can always tell a rich guy. He has a different car for different weather. :-D

Take care.
