Hey Spart, I posted to you in the new member forum, anyway, welcome again.

You'd definitely be better off to get a roller, the body on a 5th gen won't work on your 4th gen frame. Well lets just say it ain't worth the hassle.

You should be able to pick up a 5th gen body fairly resonable, check some boneyards in your area, and eBay. I've got some 4th gen bodys if you can't find what you're looking for...........I'm about 5hrs west of you.

Check this site out for your engine numbers..... http://www.mortec.com/location.htm should help some. Hope it's a 350.

Thanks man! I was gonna check today for the casting numbers but I had to work late and it was dark when I got home. I'm gonna jack her up tomorrow and have a look. I have 2 days off this week so I plan to go looking. If I cant find a whole 5th gen in fixable condition I guess I'll have to get 2 halves and a frame. I do have lot of plans for this car. Like I said in the other thread I have always wanted an El Camino and I don;t plan to let some bad rust stop me! Here's what I have planned so far:

-2.5" Z28 Mufflers (Donated from my sisters Fiance. He used to race a nova and the mufflers are new in box!)

-Chrome engine dress up parts (Donated from Fiance again.)

-SS Front End (Later down the road.)

-Fiberglass cowl hood.

-American Racing Torq thrust D's (16" inchers.)

-Fiberglass Bed Lid (Maybe a gaylord unless there are quality cheaper ones.)

-Black pearl paint with gold flakes. (Really pops in the sunlight. When the sun hits it just right theres a hint of gold metallic.)

-Swivel Bucket Seats (My dad had some in his Oldsmobile 454. It was his first car. :D)

-Sprayed bed liner.

Thats all i can think of right now. It will be a while but hey. I'm a patient man!

Also don;t get me wrong I love the looks of this year. I saw a 77 SS the other day and it was awesome. My main gripe with this year is the fact no one has parts for it!
