hey everybody my name's alex. This is my first post. I'm 16 and I have an '81 El Camino that I am restoring with my Dad. My question: We took the body off the frame and one of the biggest problems with the car was that the body mounts were all but gone. There are these channels of steel that the body mounts sit on, which are rotted pretty badly. Does anyone here know of any company that reproduces these body mount channels? Has any else encountered the same problem? Or should I start looking for other bodies that I might be able to cut them off of?
Any help would be much appreciated, I've looked EVERYWHERE :-(

I presently have the body off my 81 cabalero and I found a couple of mounts that had started to show some rust. I don't know if the mounts are available, but what I did was find a doner/junkyard car, cut the old ones out, ( dont forget to label each one's position on the car) and if your good with a heat wrench (cutting torch) it's an easy job to cut the bad ones out without cutting into the frame. 'Course a cut-off disc will work too. The mount aren't not too complicated and would be easy enough to fab. You'll NEVER have a better time to replace a very weak spot in the 5 th gen EC's. Don't forget to check out the front body mount spots too, they tend to wear thin, and enlarge. (The one behind the FRONT wheel. And if the mounts are rusting, now's the time to replace the gas line, and rubber hose in the back, and the brake lines, and vapor line to the tank. Hope this helps
