Hello all. I'm new to the Chevelle body cars and don't know much yet (I'm an old shoebox guy from years ago). Question for the experts:

1. Who's parts magazines do I need (best service/price)? Ausleys? Year One? NPD? ?????

I realize that is a subjective question, but I'm willing to listen to any feedback.

Thanks, Dave

Dave,

Welcome! 8)

Give "Honest Charley's" a call in Chattanooga. Don't know what part of E. Tenn you are in, but they can't be too far from you.

Be sure you tell them you are a member here, and you will receive a 10% discount on all your parts. They are good people. I restored my '84 CCC about 95% from them, and even purchased a bunch of parts for my '87 CCC also.

They purchased all the stock from Choo Choo Customs when they closed shop. Give them a try.

Honest Charleys is good for 5th Gen Elkys...but I think you'd be better off with NPD, OPGI and Year One for a 3rd Gen. There's others also...but those are probably the big three and their catalogs are free. Keep in mind when ordering parts from any supplier...make sure that they have the part in stock before you pay for it...it seems that although they may show that they carry a particular part, sometimes that part is on back order (which in some cases means it really doesn't exsist)...They are more than willing to take your money, can't deliver the part, and credit your money to an account...that they're more than willing to set up for you...in hopes that you'll finally give up waiting and order something else that they do have in stock. Also, although some may disagree with me, I find that Ebay is a good source for parts, both new, but specifically used...it's always where I go looking first.

Dave,

Welcome to the best El Camino site on the web. There is a lot of knowledge available with many members to give you advice and direction. I've used NPD and Year One with good results.

Glad to have you aboard.

Welcome Dave.

I have had good service from mikesmontes.com. Don't know if they specialize in any partictular generation of Elkys.

G'day Dave from me too. I am just a relatively new "kid" on the block (ECC) and so far I have used The El Camino Store. I must give these other dealers mentioned in this thread a go one of these days.
