When I first got my 82 Elky the first thing I did was give the engine bay a good bath with a car wash spray.

As soon as I started the Elky up, the windshield wipers came on even though the switch was turned off. They eventually shut off after I blew the wiper motor dry with an air hose.

This problem only occurred when I got water on the wiper motor.

But yesterday, after sitting out in the RAIN for quite some time, the wipers once again started working when I started the car even with the switch turned off. Only way I could get them to stop was to unhook the wires to the wiper motor.

I don't understand how the wiper motor could get that wet with the hood closed.

Does anyone have this problem with their Elky?

Anyone got a solution how to PREVENT this from happening again?
Thanks in advance for your input.

Next time it occurs, I'd pull the motor connector just like you have before. This time I'd have a clip lead handy. Jumper the 12 volt line in the connector to the 12 volt connection on the motor. See if connecting the 12 volt line by itself turns the motor on again.
If it does, the problem is inside the motor.
If it does not, the problem is with the wires to the switch.
