After being involved in street rodding for years I decided to apply aftermarket street rod technology to my favorite American two-seater. I dropped a magnuson supercharged LS1 into the my 83 Elky's massive engine compartment, but the chasis, particulary the rear suspension, was not going to handle the load. I had the rails boxed and a rear truck arm suspension from Hots to Hell installed with QA-1 shocks. The chasis is now a true corner carver that can plant the power to the road. The Elky is a natural platform for the most radical power plant and chasis mods. While I truely enjoy the purist side of the Elky world, the platfrom is so easily modified that Chevy should have used it to create the ultimate two-seater. My 83 is on the last page of the 5th generation page.

Do you (or plan to) drive it daily by any chance? That's a really nice setup as I said before.

Man you did that in 18 months 8O ...well you just make me wanna hurl :barf: (just kidding)...that's probably in the top 5 nicest, most well thought out 5th Gen Elkys I've seen...but to do it in 18 months is unbelievable! Now excuse me while I wipe the drool off my keyboard and then kick myself in da butt for dragging my feet! I feel so emotionally and physically inadequate now...thanks.

J.D., Welcome to the site bud. That said, I gotta tell ya, that is one of the sweetest 5th gens I've ever seen. The street rod background is evident throughout. Some really trick stuff, and a meticulous build. Cool...
