The backlighting for my guages just plain annoys me the bulbs are so dim and hard to see clearly at night. I was wondering if anyone has tried to put LED's in the bulbs place. I think im gunan try it.

Search around for price. This stuff adds up. I've seen cheaper ones but usually not a true white. One site.

Back about 15 years ago I put red jumbo LED's from Radio Shack in my 72 Ventura. Worked great, looked like aircraft gauges.

What did you use for a current limiting resistor?

Don't remember, I have slept since then. It really depends on diode values. Your best bet is to choose the LED's you want to use and calculate resistance value from there, here is a nifty little LED Series Resistance Calculator (http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/Bill_Bowden/led.htm)
Like I said I used the jumbo bright reds from RatShack.
Took the peanut bulb holders out, removed the bulbs and soldered the LED and resistor leads to the copper contacts on the bulb holders and reinstalled in to the cluster. Worked very well.
