245-60s looks good with no rubbing on your GM wheels.

I think there are people here that are running 45 series I have 50's on mine and 60's on the 76. I don't think you can do that with stock GM wheels, they'd possibly fit the rim but they would probably stick out. You need to get rims that accomidate the tire selection.

Thanks alot guys, I am running Z28 Rims now. I would really like to try to
put A set of 10 inch wide rims on the rear and A set of tires that fit the sidewallls

You've only got about 11" between the inside of the wheel well and the outside of the frame rail. I'd be most concerned about the wheel backspacing of those 10" wide rims. I believe the stock rims have 3.75" of backspacing. You shouldn't go with more than 4.0" of backspacing unless the inside of the tire will rub on the frame rail.

I've seen an article that tell how to "Roll" the fender wells, using a bat, to get more room. I also read where there is a tool that you can use to add the lip back once you rolled the fenders. I wouldn't imagine that you could squeeze more than maybe 1" extra clearance. But then I haven't done it and don't actually know anyone that has tried it so I really can't say for sure.

I would be too freaked out that I would cause a bend that would require bodywork. 8O

Ah heck Pete, let's just get the acetylene torch and a BFH to open them up. :P

It really will depend on what size rim and tire you want to run. When i was running 15's i had 235/60/15's in front on a 15x7 rim and in back 265/50/15's on a set of 15x8 crager "star" rims. The 265/50/15's were a perfect fit,no rubbing front or back. 16's or 17's with a front of 16x7 or 16x8,back 17x8 or 9 with the right amount of backspace, with a 235 or 245 front tire, 245's or 255's or 275's on rears. The 40/45/50 tire series is going to work fine, iam running 17's 245/45/17's on 17x8 rims 4.00 backspace, and on back 17x9.50 5.00 backspace with 275/40/17's.I would stick with a 40's series on back with this combo,i have with no rubbibg or handling isues. Iam getting a new set of BFG G-froce tires for the rear 285/40/17's because the 275's are almost wore down. The 275's are good, but after looking and measuring what i have, i have the room for the new 285's,backspace and a few measurements will always get you the best results, if you have any questions i would be glad to help you get the right set-up for your elky! Good Luck..

Thanks for all the info. Let me give you an idea on exactly what I want to do... The type of rims I want to run are centerline auto drag racing rims. They are a full polished rim. I'm not sure but I will have to check the website to see if they make a 17". I know they make 15". Centerline makes all types of offsets. There is no centerline dealership in my area so everything has to be ordered. It would help if I could know exactly what size I can run and still keep everything inside the fenderwells. If you saw the picture of my car, you can see it sits fairly low. I did notice there was about 2" of space between the tire and the outside rear fender. The inside is maybe about ½". .. and that is with the stock IROC rims. I'm not sure what the offset is on that. As far as the tires go, if I run a 17", I'd like to run a low-profile tire. Any more help would be appreciated.

I'm running 17x8 with a 4.5 bs with no rubbing. I got the size from a Car Craft mag where they used some fancy device to help figure out size and back spacing to keep from rubbing.

What kind of Rims are you running?

235/60-15 BFG Radial T/A on 15x7 Camaro rims with 4-1/4" backspacing. The fronts rub the frame just slightly at full lock. I've got 1/4" spacers on the rears but they probably would be OK without them.
