what info does the vin give you other then motor and carb how do you find out the trans size the rear gear things like that

77 = Dk. Maple, 72 = Lt. Maple

l = Paint type (Lacquer)

The transmission and rear end have codes stamped into them. Find those codes and we can decode. You may have to scrape some road grime and other gunk off to find the rearend codes.

I believe a search of this site will show previous posts about where to find transmission codes. The location is different for a 200M than it is for a Th350, etc.
