I would start with a wiring diagram and figure out where the power comes from, and the wire colors. The switch reverses polarity, so there is always power to the switch. There should also be a good ground connection in the harneess, make sure that wire is well grounded. Check that the harness is plugged firmly into each switch and that you do have 12 volts there. Then see if you have 12 volts leaving the switch. You can also verify that the lock solenoids are working by applying 12 volts to one side and ground to the other.

is there a chance you can show me a wiring diagram ? i checked the fuse and its good ! both of the door locks wont work ! what are the chances that both solenoids are bad ? AND i also have that same problem with my 83 monte carlo !

You can find wiring diagrams/schematics here:

check the relay box on the passenger side above and behind the kickpanel, you should see a silver box with a 10mm bolt through the top (also is the ground screw) you will also see all the door lock wires there as well, orange, black, blue, orange/black stripe etc- not sure if the relay box is available at an autoparts store but you will find plenty available in any 80's-90's GM auto in a junkyard

Pull the switch out of the door and check for voltage at the connector. The orange wire should be hot all the time, the other two wires get voltage when you push the switch one way or the other.

Most likely problem is the switch itself. Since it faces up, any crud like a spilled drink will get in and gum up the contacts. If you're real careful, you might be able to disassemble the switch and clean it inside with contact cleaner. But be careful because there's tiny springs inside.

Or your local Autozone may have replacements

I mistakenly gave you a link to the power window schematics. Here is a link to a thread that has the power door lock schematic.

as I said in my previous post you don't have to get the relay box specifically from an elky, any GM car from mid 80s-mid 90s, this is a very common interchangeable part :) almost always found in the same location or area pass side kick panel
