: Thank You to our "Top Posters"!

While I was reading another thread in which our friend Ernie was getting his head "puffed up" to yet another size by his admiring fans, a newer member remarked that Ernie was poised to regain the "Top Poster" position within a few days.

So, I did a little research about this milestone to see just where our organization is at the present time. At his present rate of posting, Ernie G., a.k.a. "87ElCamino" will indeed soon regain 1st place from MRAPII. For those who didn't know him, MRAPII passed away just about one year ago after a short but brilliant stint as one of our most-knowledgeable contributors. Before then, Ernie had held the #1 spot for some time. But because he still has to make a living in his day job, there was no way for Ernie to keep pace with the retired MRAPII out there in Hawaii.

Interestingly enough, Ernie will mark his 5th anniversary as one of our top members on Saturday, January 26, 2008. However, he is but one of a number of key contributors who regularly share their knowledge with others with their frequent posts on this website. As of today, here is the listing of our Top 15 Posters:

#1 3653 Mrapii, Region 20 - Hawaii
#2 3630 87ElCamino, Region 2 - Rhode Island
#3 3251 theelcaminofactory, Region 10 - Illinois
#4 2914 ElkyPete, Region 13 - Texas
#5 2344 Papa Johns 77, Region 10 -
#6 2328 Supercharged86, Region 3 - Pennsylvania
#7 1786 a73elkyss, Region 2 - Massachusetts
#8 1756 Tommy, Region 5 - North Carolina
#9 1531 Poltergeist, Region 17 - California
#10 1457 Acauth1, Region 13 - Texas
#11 1441 77ss, Region 9 - Michigan
#12 1398 87ss, Region 7 - Georgia
#13 1380 old-coot, Region 9 -Indiana
#14 1314 Bowtie, Region 4 - Virginia
#15 1304 Snaggletooth, Region 18 - California

It's too bad that we had to stop at #15, as there are a number of other great posters just below that number. To all of them, I want to extend our thanks and appreciation for continuing to make this one of the best auto sites on the web! We sincerely hope that some of newer members will find their way onto this "Hall of Fame" over the next few years!

Out of my respect for Robin (Mrapii), I will stop posting in these forums when I reach 3652 posts. Maybe I'll just go out and buy a Mustang and find a Mustang forum to join. No wait, I've already got a Ford Crown Victoria. I'm sure there must be a Crown Vic forum somewhere. Maybe they'll accept me. I just won't tell them about my GM cars.

I'm sure gonna miss you guys. :(
Whatever!!!!!!!! just start over with a new screen name, a lot of people have and will benefit from your knowledge (at least I know I have), and sense of humor

When I noted that he was close to passing the total number of posts I didn't mean for him to think about stopping posting. 8O Liked I said I watched this site for a long time before I joined and when I just started looking at the site the News was released and I found out he was the top poster and recently when I joined I checked the top posters and saw how close he was and was just my opinion I think Robin would probally want you to get more post and spread your wisdom as 87ElCamino not as someone else.

I honestly can't tell if you're kidding or not, but I, as well as many others I'm sure have come to rely on your very specific knowledge about G-body's. I know I'd be emailing or PMing you constantly if you stopped posting

8O I really had no idea! I never really gave how many posts I've made any thought at all! I just come here to help who I can and to gain as much knowledge on Elkies that I can. But mostly because these days this is where all my best friends are at!

I have to admit that the reason for so many postings in such a short time is I have more time to spend on line than most. Having days too painful to go out of the house I have to find something to do and here is where I like to be! Among friends that share my passion for ElCamino's!

Crikey Mark, that is right mate.

Well done to the top 10 and all ECC contributors for that matter. I thoroughly enjoy spending my time here and I have forged some great friendships (albeit long distance).

Maybe this thread is going to spur a frenzy of extra postings from some members to make the list  That is a good thing. :satisfied:

I've been here for 5 years, and usually don't respond to a forum, unless I have an intellegent answer! 8O Sometimes, NO response is the best response of all! 8) I have found that I learn more by listening than talking! :P

Those of us who remember Robin also remember his favorite, and shall I say most "assertive' subject. So Ernie, when you reach the magic number of posts, start a thread something to the affect of - Why it doesn't make sense to hop-up anything smaller than a 350.

His memory will thus be honored, and he'll laugh from on high. Just a thought.

Take care.

I always wondered about a couple of things. First just how do you guys pronounce "Mrapii" and did anyone ever figure out what it means? It is pronounced "Mr-apie" or Mir-a-pie or something Hawaiian?

I know he lived in a neighborhood where I lived back in 1968 & 1969. Because of that I sent him a few messages asking about the old neighborhood. His was the 1st response to my 1st post. We all miss him.
