I think I found this place just in time. Proud owner of 2 ElCaminos, a 79 and an 80.
I have had the 79 for 21 years and love it. Unfortunatly to many years in Wisconsin and their salt during the winter plus my lack of maintenance have turned it into a rust bucket. I was in the process of stripping it out and running it across the scales but may just rethink that. Reading some of the postings here have got me thinking 4x4. I will have to pop it off the frame and rework the underside any way so maybe I might just use it to play. Quite a bit of reserach involved but sounds like fun. Any frame suggestions?

My 80 was bought just 6 months ago for $300 in a lucky find. My wife had scratched her car during the winter and stopped at a body shop and noticed the Camino and asked about it. I took a look at it and thought for $300 it was a good buy. Clean body with very little surface rust, odometer showed 60000 on it,figured 160000, interior is in perfect shape plusa it came with a topper. Found out it was owned by a local doctor who kept it garaged all the time that he owned it. Sold it to the son of the body shop owner and drove it 6 months until his dad took it away after a DUI arrest. The car sat for 2 years before I bought it. The actual milege is 60000, not sure if it is a 267 or a 305.
I love the 267, not a lot of torque and has great gas milege, gets me where I need to go. My 79 has gone through 4 of them, all high milege relacements with new. The current one has about 37000 on it now.
Sorry for the long post but I am excited to be here and hope to get to know some of you through postings.

Welcome to ECC/NECOA Scott!

...not sure if it is a 267 or a 305.
If it's got a two-barrel carb then it's a 267. If it's a four-barrel carb it's a 305.
