Great list, and it applies to both sexes which is cool, I'll have to show my girlfriend too. Thanks for the flashback through my childhood!

I was a child of the 60's / 70's kind of..

I remember things like

Popeye, Olive Oil, Brutis. Boris and Natasha, Rocky and Bullwinkle

The phrase "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a Hamburger today" still comes to mind.

The "Marlboro Man" was not dying of cancer then!

Movies like "The Ten Commandments" Good, Bad and the Ugly, Fist full of Dollars, Vanishing Point have more of a meaning. Woodstock! :D Now that was a concert!

Music like Motown and then Zeppelin, Grand Funk Railroad, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and the Doors were very popular. I remember Charles Manson murders of the Tate Family, Shows like Bonanza, Big Valley, Wagon Train were on the TV.

I remember Records made of vinyl that required "Record Players" to hear them. I remember the first 19" Color Console TV marketed. I remember the phrase "Put a Tiger in your tank!" and "You can trust your car to the man that wears the star!"

I can remember "Pure Cain Sugar, It's quick dissolving." I also remember the Morton Salt girl, Speedy Alka-Seltzer and the Coppertone commercials. Dean Martian's Celebrity Roast, The Smothers Brother's show,

I remember Tie Dyed T-Shirts, Long Long hair and the Rock Opera "Hair", "Tommy" and Jesus Christ Superstar.

I remember JFK stating over the air, an unheard of threat to Fidel Castro to "Blow His Paper Hanging ass off the face of the map".

I remember practicing Air Raid Drills in School. I remember when phones didn't just "Unplug" from the wall they were hard wired in.

I remember Transistor Radios, cloths hanging on the line to dry OUTSIDE!

I remember when Tennis Shoes were made from Canvas and thin rubber soles and all of them were hightops. Keds & PF Flyers.

I remember the whole family piling into the car for a Sunday drive through the country and maybe a picnic.

ElkyPete sounds like you and I grew up in the era, just took a road trip down memory lane. It's a terrible thing to grow old, now I know why my kids say I'm " Older Than Dirt". :)

"Pink Floyd, the Dead, Jefferson Airplane, BOB DYLAN, Skynyrd"

I was never much a Dead Head, Dylan was not too hard to listen to, Floyd came much later, "By the way; Which ones Pink?" That little Southern Band was pretty good also.

I also left out Deep Purple, Canned Heat, Wasn't Airplane actually Starship in the 70's?! Grace Slick. Blondie, Heart, and one of my favorite radio show was Dr. Demento! Sat evenings.

I left out Beatles, Stones, War, Santana, Hose` Faliceano (sp), Blood Rock, Black Sabbith ect......

Because "The Cisco Kid was a friend of mine!" But I did not shoot the deputy.

i do not recognize jefferson starship as being in any way related to airplane....no but really it was airplane back in the mid-late 60's. they were really in to the acid wave... but your right they did sell out... oops i mean change to jefferson starship. o and the stones and beatles were no brainers, didnt think you had to mention them.

I've got tons of vinyl. No record player but lots of records. Been thinking of some day putting it on CDs.

I never had an 8 track! I hated those noisy pieces of junk. Tapes always broke and by the time the Auto manufacturers were installing them in carz they were replaced by the Cassette tapes, which were worlds better.

"Older than dirt" you say?!? I relized I was getting old when I noticed it had been over "Twenty Years" since I had gotten out of the service. 8O I was Carded up until I was 24 or more. Then one day the people at stores started calling me "Sir and Mister", hell that was my Dad's name not mine!

Woodstock was in '69! that is 34 yeas ago. 34 years!

I listen to Older Rock and Country now days. In my arrogant youth I aspired to become a Rock-n-Roll drummer! What a dumb @ss I was!

Heck, I had streamers on my bike handlebars in the fifties. When I was a youngster, I lived through a WWII blackout in eastern North Carolina. That was during the times that German U boats came in close to our shores. All the other stuff in the list is just recent history.
