I had a set of these in my old 69 elky, and they did made the ride a little harsher when they were filled up, but also made it handle excellent going around corners- My 'new' (last year) 70 elky does not have these- It currently just has the HD SS springs in the back... There is quite a bit of body roll going around corners. Also with a full tank of gas or any kind of load- the back of the car sits lower than i would like...

I want to hit two birds with one stone here- i'd like to put the air springs in the 70 to help the body roll- IF they will also help lift it up about 1". I know i can get boxed rear control arms & a sway bar ($$$) to control the roll, and I can get wagon springs to lift the back a little more... But if i can do both with just getting the air springs, i'd like to do that rather than completly rebuild the rear suspension...

Is anyone else out there running these Air Springs in the back of their Elkys?? How do you like it?

Thanks-
Ben

Ben, I assume your talking about air shocks so common on the early Elkys. I have the stock Delco air shocks on my '67 and I like them. I run about 10 lbs of pressure in the system which gives my Elky a slight rake. The stance is a bit lower with the P245/50/15 BFG's I run on it.

I believe you can still order Delco or Monroe air shocks for your '70. The last set I ordered came from Shucks for an earlier Elky project I was working on.

Sorry... I guess I should have clarified that... I'm actually referring to AIR SPRINGS, Not air shocks - They are an air bag that sits INSIDE your rear coil springs- You inflate/deflate to help change your spring rate. A lot of drag racers use them to help get some extra traction.

Basically I want to hear from someone else who has installed these weather or not they will raise the car a bit when installed...

Thanks!
