I'm planning on painting my frame either tomorrow or next week. whenever I have it completely nekkid. I still have to remove the rearend and various lines/hoses to get it there, but i'm close. anyway, I'm painting it with black POR-15, but if I'm going to all the trouble, I want it to stand out, so I'm topcoating it silver/gray.

What is the best way to do it? I was thinking either rustoleum high performance enamel (High dollar spray paint). Or a brush on enamel. I definitely don't want it to chip, but I'm concerned about the appearance as well. I know the spray can would be much easier and smoother, but what about longevity? I don't want to go all out, this is just a frame, on a semi-daily driver. But I want it to look nice at shows.

I think the company that makes por-15 recommends their tie-coat primer over por-15, then you can coat it with whatever you want. If I was going to use rattle can topcoat, I would get one of the good ceramic engine paints that duplicolor makes. They last on hot greasy engines pretty well, as long as the proper prep is used.

Why not use POR15 silver? It has the same characteristics as the POR15 black.

Only reason is I already have black from a while back.

I would suggest that whatever paint you choose, use a spray. You can "spray/shoot" into places that a brush won't reach for a more complete coverage, protection and protection.

Why not paint it the same color as the body?

I want it to match the stripes instead of the blue is all.
