I could see how air brushing would give you accurate spraying without overspray is a tight place like the engine compartment. I never thought of that, might try it next time, but it seems it would take much longer.

They do make an engine compartment paint, heat and oil resistant in spray cans. I think it's called "bulldog", or something like that.

Using a small spray (air brush or can) with a piece of cardboard or plastic board to block and edge with is the way to do it.

Make sure you do a complete job of de-greasing, power washing and drying first.

Send pics after you're done and good luck.

Bulldog is a flexible bonding agent. It is great for interior plastic pieces, bumper covers and another use I found it good for is spraying bare bolt heads or nuts that you want to leave that way but don't want them to rust. It is clear and dries totally transparent.

Maybe I could be swayed, but I think the engine is the aesthetic. Ok, I'll reserve judgment.

Take care.
