Hi all, how's everyone doin these days?
I'm needing some ultra newb disassembly suggestions.
I'm about to start restoring my 1st complete door ever. I just took the passenger door off the hinges yesterday: scraped, sanded, cleaned out and vacuumed the inside lower door panel as best I could. Rinsed with high pressure water aswell. Everything is in working order but will need all new felt (channel set) and weatherstripping.
So, onto disassembling the entire door ( I have a parts cataloge to help me identify the parts).
- what's the 1st thing I should take apart? Is there any order that makes things easier? Vent window...main window...Door lock assembly?
-how do I get the glass out of the door? I haven't inspected it with a flash light yet, but I imagine there must be some hard to get to bolts?
- the trim on and around the door, that supports the glass...how does that chrome come off? Just shake and wiggle for hours?
-the door lock assembly...are there any "tricks" to working with it to make it easier? Keep it locked? unlocked? The locks work great but I'm thinking I might go for shaved doors. (Might aswell after all the money I'm spending on it).
- any other "tricks"? Keep window rolled up? rolled down? etc etc?
