seriously. my boss does the same thing at work all day. I get on here, and she comes in and kicks me off to look at purses, rings... etc...

I really don't/can't wrap my head around it.

I can relate to this too.

How about the statement, "it was on special, look how much I saved". :dontgetit:

Yeah but.....how much did you spend??? :sarcasm:

I gotta say that I take a little exception to that statement. I am a girl. For my birthday I got fenders and a purse. The purse is somewhere in my room. The fenders are freshly painted and waiting to go on the car. Best birthday ever. For Christmas, I got quarter panels. I am having a really good year. My point is, not all girls stuff is silly and expensive.

I have a much differant look at this, as in I respect what my Wife thinks as well as feels on such matters. What she BUYS, and how much she SPENDS on it is of NO RELEVANCE. If it's something she WANTS, that's all that should matter. Like wise, the Wife affords me the very same respect when I BUY, and for whatever I SPEND on it. I'm very thankfull that I don't have to explain why I want / need something, as well as trying to understand why she may need / want what ever it is that she wants or needs. We are BOTH very comfortable with that I might add.
THIS IS JUST MY 2 CENTS WORTH ON THE TOPIC>

Yeah, I can relate with Tim's experience. My wife loves jewelry so guess what I bought her for Christmas? You could replace the engine in one of our Elkys for the same amount. Well I like cars and she likes precious metals and rocks, but I don't think I will ever understand the value or desire of useless body decorations. :P

Let's see... wife gone 20 years ago...she just didn't get me...better luck to the guy she ran off with...good riddance..

Last girlfriend, basket case...ditto to the last one...

I'd rather spend money on my cars or my hobbies, after bills of course...

At least my mom is cool. She's into cars. She just bought a 2008 Pontiac Solstice GXP Twin turbo. For holidays and birthdays I get to buy her cool stuff like parts for her 69 Firebird.

No mushy crap...

Of course my friends think I'm nuts because of the stuff I buy for the Elky. I also like my old Model trains and have since I was a kid. I'll ocassionally buy an old model in mint condition. I keep them in display cases. It's a rush to find something that I had when I was kid. I've dropped some coin in that hunt but never have I spent anything close to a grand.

Still got my old AFX slot cars in storage too.

So I guess it just depends on what every individual considers valuable.

Touchy subject......very easy to generalise when it comes to cars, as the majority ARE male owners especially with specialist / hotrod / classic cars...I'm female, and yes, did get some sparkly bling for christmas but not expected, but also got a late christmas present in the shape of bed floor pans, rear windscreen seal, rear guards for my 60 Elky from my darling partner.....

Well, I guess females NEED some of that sparkly bling. As for me I don't even wear a wedding ring, had too many close calls accident wise with that thing on my finger. It got bent out of shape too many times with my finger in it.

Here in Wisconsin the courts say its our stuff, but say the dryer needs to be fixed then its mine. And anytime she buys something for the house, thats not the same as if WE need parts for the car. why is that?

You must be pretty young. She has no attachment to the car as most women don't, it's just a necessary thing. Her only attachment to the car is you.

I'm going out to the garage now and hug my cars and motorcycle.

Wife said Im going thru my midlife crisis, and she is correct. It only took twenty years to collect most not all of her [our] stuff. Meaning all those pretty things we just had to have for the house. So I just wanted something to play with, and she is still asking why an El Camino. Its funny when we disagree she always gets the car in there some how like its my girlfriend an shes interfering.

In general I guess it's true men are more into cars than women, but there are notable exceptions. Two examples of these exceptions are a woman who was at one time a member of Late Great Chevys who said her husband tolerated her car habit, which is sort of a reversal of roles. She had a low mileage 1959 Chevy Belair like the one her family had when she was growing up. There is another woman whose 1959 El Camino was also written about in Late Great Chevy magazine. Her El Camino was very nice and one of the best examples of an original restoration of an El Camino I have ever seen. Great attention to orginality!
