: Western Rims
Deluxe Edition 12-26-2003, 06:07 PM Hi all, I finished my car in 1996 ,I've been happy ever since.
The one thing that I have not been completely happy with are the rims
I know Western Rims are out of busness. Did they ever offer the western rim in a 15x8 stance.
That is what I am running all around with a 235/15, they fill out the wheel wells perfect.
But I always liked the Western Rims style
Caveman49 12-27-2003, 06:52 PM Hey Deluxe Edition, you might get someone who is good with computers and do some imaging with different types of mags and wheels, this will give you a variety of pictures of what your ride would look. don't know about western rims, i'm still hung up on SS mags and Ralleys
Tommy 12-28-2003, 11:10 AM I am still running Keystone classics & they are old. I always ran Crager SS on my Chevelles. I will buy something newer someday, It's just not very high on my list now.
John Harris 12-28-2003, 02:42 PM Hey Barry -- Nice looking ride! Please post some photos in the members gallery so we can get a good close up look at the custom touches. John

Ditto, particularly those tail lights. Looks like you grafted Monte tail lights on there ?
Deluxe Edition 12-29-2003, 02:28 PM In the Sept.94 editon of Hot Rod they had someone putting these 88 chevy C-10 taillights in the rear of a 78 like mine was.
I took it 2 steps futher and and handlaid a IROC spoiler to match and the bowtie third brake light and then hand drew the decails and had them made locaily .
I thank you for your compliments, it was a real beast to take a idea from paper to fabrication. The third brake lite is also handmade but the blue nose bowtie is a 94 lumina and the rear bowtie blue trim peace is off a 94 cavelier They worked like a charm. My pics are posted in the 5th Gen on page 10 Their are always woulda ,shoulda ,couldas, on a project like this . But I came close
I just wish the folks a Lauren would drop in and copy my spoiler .I get nervious in heavy traffic. It sure would be nice if it was easy to replace. like there ground affects
The Western Rims are what came special order on some Choo Choo customs I kinka had my heart set on them at the begining . and had to settle on these,
Their nice but not correct
I just check out the pics. Wow, what a job! Does that sun roof leak at all?
Deluxe Edition 12-30-2003, 09:20 AM The sun roof is one of the only out of family part, its 1986 Jeep (Cherokee?) sorry if I miss spelled
. .
And ( NO ) Not since 96 It has never leaked
It has a outter and innert seals ,and a drip channel inbetween, that has 2 drain hoses that go down and out the rear quarter pannels .
I made the electic roof kit myself out of a GM power antenia motor and married the hand wheel case onto the motor case with a plastic solder gun
It and the windows are fleet operated. the roof switch is a window switch on the door pannel ,midway between the door lock switch and the mirror switch. A very factory look.
Hours and hours and hours of plaining, walking through salvage yard after salvage yard. It took me 2 years to figure it all out.
I hope it shows
Deluxe Edition 12-30-2003, 05:36 PM I just realized , I think ,I have seen Tommy's car have you ever had it at Charolotte Motor Speedway on the track
Tommy 12-30-2003, 06:40 PM Yes, I am at the Auto Fare twice a year. I use to live about ten miles from there, now about twenty(Indian Trail) . Do you come to Auto Fares ?
Deluxe Edition 12-31-2003, 08:53 AM I havn't been back since I finished the car But yelp I use to go every time it was held.
Tommy 12-31-2003, 11:09 AM Deluxe, Where do you live?
Deluxe Edition 12-31-2003, 11:13 AM In the cozy little corner of Bear Creek, 14 miles north of Sanford
Deluxe Edition 01-02-2004, 02:38 PM Getting back to the Western Rims . I wonder If there is a manufacter that might want to start producing them again .
More importanty could they make some in 15x8.
That , I have learned works best on ground affect cars. and no spacers.
They realy fill out the wheel wells just right and the P-235 x15s
Make it look fat and sassy , without going to a 17 or 18 inch rim and the tires are so much cheaper than the derectionals
I realy want to find a wheel maker that can make um in 15x8
