I was in Checker Auto the other day and just happened to be driving my
74. I was just getting some cleaning stuff. I saw this guy in a 76 Oldsmobile Omega that looked like it was being readied for new paint. Anyway the Omega is basically a Nova with an olds emblem on it so you can call it a Chevy...
Anyway he was walking in when I pulled up and he was taking a good hard look at my ride. I walked in a few minutes behind him and was wandering around the store when I heard this guy (we'll call him Omega man) BS'ing with the parts counter guy who was all excited about his 327 chevy build up in his Camaro.
Ok, enough setup...
The parts guy tells "Omega" man that he was going to have to pay a few bills for some machine work to which the "Omega Man" responds " Why? you don't put money into a Chevy" Wait, it gets better..then he continues " A Mopar yeah, that's worth putting money into but never a Chevy..." Then he goes on claiming some buddy of his just "gave" him a 400 horse Small block that he stuck in the Olds.
I'm not sure if this guy was baiting me or what. He knew what I drove up in, knew I could hear him. I just didn't say a word.
So, a Mopar is a better investment than a Chevy...I guess this guy hasn't checked the price of Mopar Crate motors or the going price for Darts, K-cars and Dusters....
....yeah, great investment there...
:D
