its nice that i have found this forum ! Excuse me but my english isnt the best !
Im from Germany and i own a 1977 GMC Sprint and a 1974 Chevy el Camino. Sadly the gmc is totaly rustet. I cant use this car for rebuilt. Thats the reason i have buy end of last year the camino from texas. Since feruary this year the camino is here in Germany and the Baby is mainly rustfree. Now i rebuilt and want to useonly some parts from the Sprint.
Sadly in Europe are hard to find Parts for this beautyfull cars. But i think in US also hard to find parts for the 4th Generation Caminos i think ?!
But now i have found this Forum and hope you can help me to restore and rebuild my Camino here in Germany. Im sure i have lots of question while i restore the Car.
Thats all 4 now. I will post some pictures later.
Thanks and have a nice Day . . . .
Jens :)

Welcome Jens. You are right - 4th Gens have some difficulty with parts, even here in the US. BUT, there are some very resourceful people on here and I would be willing to bet, they can help you find what you are looking for. Just post a list of what you need.

What part of Germany are you in? I spent 5 years in Heidelberg, and try and go back every year.

Im live in the eastern germay part. Near of Dresden and Chemnitz. its called saxonia (Sachsen).
Heidelberg is in the western Part of Germany. At the "cold war"- times we are ruled by the russians. Thats another reason why here around US Cars and parts are very rare ! But Bavaria is not so far from here. In Bavaria are a lot of US base`s. And maybe i find some parts there ?
Im a big US- Fan and travel 3 times to US (New York1998, California2002 and last year Florida)
All people that ive met in US are very friendly and ready to help. Thats nice.
I like US cars very much especially the "elco" Thats the reason why i have buy me such cars and want to extant this car for future. In Germ, any only no more than 100 of this cars are running.
Can someone of you tell me why the parts for the 4th generation so rare `? Dont know why, the early years and the later years parts are no problem. I have order an NPD Parts Catalog and i cant find parts . . . .
But im in cheerful spirits because i think the people here can help :D
allright , thanks folks

Jens,

Yea, I know exactly where you are. In fact, I've got a picture standing in front of the Brandenburg Gate & Checkpoint Charley going into East Berlin.

I imagine you are correct about there not being too many US cars, because of being controlled by Russia. It would certainly make sense, at least to me.

Have you contacted The El Camino Store also for a catalog? Not having a 4 gen for quite some time, I personally just do not know where to tell you to go. Hang on a little - I'll bet some of the 4th Gen guys will post for you. . 8)

Hey there-
As far as I can tell 4th generation parts are rare because most fourth-gens in the US have already been stripped and sent to the crusher. And because 4th gens are not considered by the collective to be "classic" cars, there are not many reproduction parts available -yet. Your best bet is to look for used/refurbished parts, that's what I have to do.

What kind of condition is your '74 in? Are you doing a full rebuild? What engine do you have? Interior & exterior colors? I spend a ridiculous amount of time calling salvage yards and such, let me know if there's anything I can try & help find for you.

Good luck!

G'day and welcome from me Down Under (Australia) Jen. It is great that ECC gives us the opportunity to "meet" El Camino owners right around the world. Your command of English is good and a whole lot better than my command of German (I have no German language skills but my wife was born in Austria).

You are right about the limited 4th gen parts and so are the members who responded. I have so far bought most of my bits and pieces from The El Camino Store and as you are a member here they will give you a discount too.

We have a few members who can help out with 4th gen parts from their part cars too so don't hesitate to post up if you need a hard to get part.

Welcome to the site, and I am new too here! My parents lived in Germany for 3 years (back in the day when I wasn't around).
