I've checked the search and cannot find anything about front yoke compatability. I have the non-overdrive 200 in my '87 and am getting ready to swap in a 700R4. I know I need to shorten the driveshaft but what I need to know is if the front yoke will also fit the 700R4. I plan on getting another shaft to have shortened to cut back on downtime. Also will the 700R4 torque converter bolt up to the existing flex plate?

The yoke should interchange. Who ever is going to shorten your driveshaft should be able to tell you. I think the only different size car yoke as far as splines goes is the TH400. You will also need to make sure the yokes have the same size u-joint. there are a few different sizes. Not sure on the convertor.

Thanks, I figured that from what I've read but just wanted to make sure. Since there are only two bolt patterns for the torque converters I would imagine those to be the same also.

there is a lot more in common with the th2004r and th700r4 than you might think---they even share some internals, like the front pump is interchangable --at least thats true for the pre 93 models before they went electronic, I suspect its still true just have not verified that yet.........Dan
