66 EC, nothing stock, except original pains in the a$$. Driver's side rear brake light working occassionally. It has a mind of it's own. Where do I start? The bulb is good. Along the same line, does anyone have a diagram of the fuse panel and which fuse goes to what. The PO painted over mine! Super!!! There are wires and crap going everywhere under the dash from original to old stereos, alarms, etc. Anyway, any help would be appriciated, can't drive it with no brake light!

the brake light problems usually end up being one of two things.
1. BAD GROUND
2. Turn signal switch. Yes the brake lights run through the turn signal switch.
Try holding the brake pedal down while gently wiggling the turn signal lever and let somebody watch. Since you say yours works sometimes this might help narrow it down.

Neil is right on the money about the turn signal switch. I had the same condition with mine, almost drove me crazy finding the cause.

The ground that usually causes this problem is the black wire on the bulb socket that is attached to the frame.

Pressed brake while messing with blinker. Brake light was flickering on/off. Makes me suspect the turn sig. switch, as sugested. Now, how do I remove it? I have the st. wheel off, but don't know how to get the switch out without destroying everything! Any help would be great. Thank you.

Have you tried your local Advance or Autozone?
When I needed one last year Advance had for tilt or non-tilt for about 28 bucks. Memory could be wrong as I am old feeble and weak of mind but I still love to hear a big block trying to suck the paint through the metal in the hood.

my god i have almost the same problem on my '73(i wanna shoot something..), is your fuses burning out also?
my drivers side blinker/brake/running lights are out and my passenger brake/runnin light are out....
my passenger blinker works like a champ, but both my ''stop'' and ''brake'' fuses burn out the second i turn my head lights on.
i tried to constant short them out with a set of needlenose and found an orange wire that started getting hot, i replaced it and now my interior light works when opening the passenger door....
i believe the guy that owned it before me did alil rewiring of his own.
any ideas guy? am i right thinking its a short? i replaces both the bulbs.
and my reverse lights dont work either.(anyone have a site selling a complete rewiring kit for the rear end elec?)
