WE were discussing Chris's Z/28 Concept car being placed on to the C-5 or C-6 Corvette platform sometime back. I was telling you about the Magna Steyr Corvette conversion of the 50th Annv. to a retro 1953. I foound the web site and here is a picture and a link to it.

I would really like to see a kit for the newer Vettes to accept Chris's design. Remember, you can put Sheeps clothing on a Wolf......... and change his entire appearance.

I've seen one of those conversions in person. The front looks nice...I think the back looks very bad. The tail lights just seem out of place. Using the C6 plateform for a 'Camaro' could be nice. One of the strange things for it could be the fact that the tranny for the Corvette's are in the rearend. They use a 'Torque Tube' from the motor to the rearend trannies. I wonder what the back seat would look like?

http://home.pacbell.net/zippom/iagree.gif Over the past year or so i've seen a half dozen of these conversions at assorted national and regional Corvette gatherings. There was also a write-up on one in Corvette Fever magazine (or was it Vette?). Anywaze...the angle shown in the pic looks GOOD...but any other angle isn't nearly as "flattering".

PROBABLY have to be buckets in the back!

PROBABLY have to be buckets in the back!

I don't think a back seat would be a consideration at all, and somehow I think I could live without it !

I had a '69 Z 2/8 in 1971. The guy that I bought it from had taken out the rear seat and had a lite weight piece of plywood floor across the hump and carpeted up to the back deck.

He then made a 1/4" steel rod to go across at the door jamb with a tab on each end to stick into the rear side window channel. Tonneau snaps were screwed into the rear surround trim and a cover sewn to cover the entire rear seat area. There was a zipper in the center where it draped between the bucket seats to access the rear storage area.

It really looked good. I think it was called a business coupe when it was offered by the factory as a salesman's option to omit the rear seat and make a solid rear deck.

This car was pretty wild at the time and had the Baldwin Motion Camaro hood on it along with a whole lot of chrome and little trick things he had done to it. I wish I had it back.........................I'm looking for a body now. Here goes another project! Jim

That's a cool looking car. Much, much better than the new thunderbird that Ford tried to pone off on the public(allthough the front is kinda simular). Alchemist, it's very ovious that you don't have kids! :)

Yeah I don't either, I have an '80 Corvette, a '97 Jeep 2dr Cherokee with the bottom of the backseat taken out so it will fold flat to haul my German Shepard and I just bought a '03 Quadcab Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel Short Bed Truck so I could go someplace with more than one extra passenger. I actually bought it to pull my new enclosed trailer. The wife does have a '02 Grand Cherokee but she won't let me drive it. Jim
