I know this forum is not here to teach you how to run a computer, if you didn't know, you would't be here! But I wish there was a page where you could learn how to do some things that are needed to get the most out of being here! Self help, so you don't have to look like an idiot asking a lot of questions and using up a lot of time from more experienced computer gurus. Maybe someday I'll know what I'm doing!

What I meant was how to do things on the site. Like--how can I put those smilies in my message, how do I respond with a quote, things like that. I know how to work on my El Camino better than working on a computer!!

Ahhhhhhh....Ok! Know wha'cha mean now! And in all honesty, THIS forum is a LOT clearer and easier to use that the other forums/chats that i frequent! Those little buttons about the text window when you're typin' a reply make things a LOT easier!!
and FWIW...if you want to use a smilie that's not a "stock" one for this forum, all ya need to do is post it like a picture/image.

And i know what you mean about THAT TOO!!! http://www.jeffpylenz.com/INCREDIMAIL%20VOL.2/EX.SMILIES/other71.gif

See!!! How did you do that? Do I have to go up to the top of this box and specify this font, that size type, erase all those letters that appear in the window when you go to type, etc. etc. This is the first forum have ever been involved in.

 the only time you have to specify the font details is if you want to put special emphesis on something! Otherwise, just type in the box!
So far as the images go...when you click the little button that looks like a photograph of a mountian (it's the 5th one from the right), it automatically opens a window to type the address for the picture you want to post, and enters the HTML command in the text window. OR...you can do it manually like this {img}URL ADDRESS FOR THE PICTURE{/img}, using the square brackets instead of the curved ones. The picture DOES need to be uploaded onto a server SOMEWHERE on the web before it can be posted...but you can even do THAT here too! :-D
Bottom line is...the more you use this or any forum...the more comfortable you'll be doing the "fancy" stuff! http://scorpius.150m.com/master/smilie/hihi.gif

By the way...if you click the "Quote" button to post a reply...you can see the commands to enter the text, the picture address, and all that was used in the message you're replying to! 8)
