: My baby was attacked!!!
motorbreth 01-04-2004, 10:29 AM Yesterday night around 1am, i was at my uncles, and they were going somewhere, and when his wife was pulling out she hit my elky!!! and i was parked no where near her truck!!! i thought i was going to cry. so now it has about a 7 inch crease in front of the drivers side rear wheel, and the chrome trim piece around the fender is dead. they say they will pay for it though. anyone know how much that chrome piece costs?? i will ask our body man how much it would be to hammer out the crease.. anyone else feel this bad when there elky got its first dent???
87ElCamino 01-04-2004, 10:42 AM Sorry to hear about your misfortune.
About six years ago, on Christmas eve, a friend of mine accidently backed his S10 into the drivers door of my 79 El Camino. It cost him $950 to have it fixed. We're still friends.

I got a check for 2400 and it cost me 600 to fix it.
I'd still wish it never happened.

Camino80 01-04-2004, 03:13 PM The Elcamino Store has repros for $27.95, minus ECC discount plus shipping. I've never had a problem with them they are very accommodating. :)
stormspotter82 01-04-2004, 05:24 PM i had a 1 ton Ford dually back in to the front of mine. thank goodness all it destroyed was the header panel and it was before i started restoration on it. had some one rear end me twice after restoration, no damage (TG). had some one almost hit me broadside when they were pulling out of an alley. hit a highway reflector pole, destroyed the front pass. fender trim and the rocker panel trim and flattened the rocker panel. thank goodness the pole was knocked over other wise it would have killed the mirror on that side.
motorbreth 01-05-2004, 12:17 PM well i just talked to gary, who by the way owns an awesome red 68 elky, and he is buildin a 71 chevelle from the frame up, and he does body work, and he says im lookin at 250 for the body work plus moldings. not as much as i thought, so things are looking up :D
ElkyPete 01-05-2004, 02:56 PM How could someone NOT know they were against your truck for that length of time. That looks like it started at the front fender and went all the way back. The truck would have been rocking. That door is a pretty tough item to repair. Right where it is damaged it has a reenforcing beam over it so you just about can't get to the panel from inside in that area, with anything like a dolly.
I am suprised it doesn't cost around 1200 to fix, to me it looks like $1,200.00 worth of damage.
Geez I feel bad for you.
Tommy 01-05-2004, 03:02 PM I hate to see that, looks kinda nasty. Good luck on the repair.
motorbreth 01-05-2004, 07:54 PM o that pic isnt mine guys!! that is allanova's. mine isnt nearly that bad. i wish that car was mine though, see how the paint is shiny :P mine is like a foot long crease down the side. not as bad as that one, but it still kills me.
coollw 01-06-2004, 12:53 PM I completely sympathize. I drifted my 82 conquista into a tree, and did $3k worth of damage. worst of all, the frame got bent and I have been working with a guy to straighten it on his frame rack. The good news is, you can buy enough paint to paint the whole car for a little more than it takes to paint the damaged area. If you want to take the time and $ you can use this unfortunate accident to restore your baby. A little body work and TLC and you can have a super ride. While you are at it. You can take off all the chrome trim and bed chrome, and use a little Mother's polish and elbow grease, and end up with a shiny bling bling of a ride. Cheer up, I used my accident as an opportunity to further restore my beauty. There's nothing like a little loving to get your motor running. :P
motorbreth 01-06-2004, 02:23 PM AHH!!! now he cant get the right paint for it!! everyone has said so far to just paint the whole thing, but i just cant afford it right now. ive got so many other non-car things sucking away my paycheck as it is, there is no way i can pay for a paintjob. sucks being poor :-(
n1earnhrt 01-10-2004, 04:08 PM Some one actually kick my tailgate and put a good size dent in it. The only good part about my story is I am at a Voc. school for auto body and am planing on getting all the dents out this summer.
motorbreth 02-24-2004, 02:29 PM :D :D hehe.. today the guy who takes the dents out of all the cars on the lot came by... so he popped out my 12 inch long crease running down the side of my car.... set me back $10!!! :P
