I have a buddy with an '87 that has buckets. His console lid (the hinge) has broken.

Anyone know of where he can order one? Or? ? ? ? ? ?

Thanks Ernie 8) . He knew about these, (I didn't, so thanks from me also) but is wanting the original so that he keeps it all original. Said he has seen this, and it doesn't have the rear "arm" that keeps it in line. . . I don't have buckets, so I don't know.

Anyone know of where "original" can be found?

The parts you can get from Dixie (and other sources) are about as original as you're going to get. Meaning, they are usually just as good/or better than original (there are always exceptions).

The only truely original parts will be the one that come off his car. Or he can try a junk yard if he is adamant about getting an "original from GM" part. He might even try eBay or Craigs List, someone is bound to be parting out a car somewhere.

I'm not trying to be a smart @ss, just being realistic about how far you can go with a 30 year old car that no longer has factory parts available.

Unless he is looking to build a 100 point show car, the aftermarket parts will probably be the easiest option for parts that are no longer available from GM. They are easier to find and will get the project finished quicker.

There is one in a nearby salvage yard that I frequent for parts for my Elk... it's a '79, but the part you are looking for should be identical...
