I managed to decode most of my engine number
but is it made in 1975 or 1985 ?
My car is from -76 but the engine was supposedly replace in -91.
Here is the number:

15J245249
V0707CMJ

It looks like your engine is a 75, built in Flint, Michigan on July 7th, 1974. It should be a 350 from a full size police car. The CMJ suffix indicates it.

Thanks Springer, but what is it that really says it's a -75 and not
a -85 ?

As I mentioned in my previous posting, the suffix "CMJ" gives it away. It was only used in two years, 1974 and 1980. In 1980 it was used for a 305 for a full sized car or a Camaro. Because in your Vin code the second number is a "5", that means it was built for a 1975 car. :-) I hope this clears it up for you! :) It should be a real sweet engine, it being a police engine! :D
