My biggest question is ... Who is willing to come to one? My vote is in April after the first weekend(3/4) because I have drill. In one of the beautiful parks in Charlotte.

Tommy' your not having Drill during the Holy Days of the Auto Fair are you?

Tommy

We ALWAYS have drill during the April Autofare, It sucks. I usely get off duty at lunch on Friday so I can go out there.

It would probably be easier to move the fair date than the drill.lol

I'm three hours and forty minutes from down town Charlotte, but I'm willing to take the trip. If you need any input or help to set up please don't hesitate to ask.
I'm a hard core spring Charlotte fan - fourteen years and counting. I've had CC2159 on the front straight for the past eleven years. Free ice water for anyone who wants to stop by!

If you are out there on Friday, I will look you up. Give me more details to find you. We could meet at Reedy Creek Park on the north side. That's one possiblity. I would love to see a good showing for this meet. Of course there is a possiblity I might be in the Desert on deployment. Hope not.

Speedway parking lot on Auto Fair weekend may help bring in more members. Just a thought! Remember, this is an informal meet with no cost to anyone. We just have to all agree on when and where!

I just registered on this site last week. I'm currently living in Charleston, SC (7 yrs) and shopping for a daily driver elki (68-72). I'd love to come to a spring show in Charlotte.

I may even have my car by then as I was going to start shopping seriously in February. There's a couple I'm looking at on websites (not ebay), but who know if they'll still be for sale in Feb/March?

Ok, stupid question, but what kinda things should I be looking for in terms of condition in a daily driver (other than it runs well and looks pretty darn good)? I really talking about mechanically under the hood. Not being super car knowedgeable, I do plan to get any car I'm interested in checked out by a licenced mechanic not involved in the deal.

Thanks for the info, Deb

One suggested meeting place at the track would be to enter the complex at gate "P" which is on the back side of the track. If you enter at that gate there is a parking area on the right that is usually sparsley populated. It's quite a distance from the track, but it would be convienient to everyone.

My car coral space is CC2159. If you stand in the infield and look at the front straight, there are three personel gates that are open to the walk in public. I am parked right next to the gate on the far right coming out of the fourth turn. If I still have it, look for a red Jag XJS convertible. Again, if anyone needs help with the meeting, please don't hesitate to ask.

I'll be at the spring auto fair with my vettes Saturday and Sunday...and will probably have to work friday morning (and spend friday afternoon/night CLEANING the black beasts! )

Maybe we could do a Meet'n Greet in mid march or late april down at Carowinds Blvd or some other "central" eatery?

Tommy

How does mid march sound?

Sign me up for whatever date is agreed upon. My only concern about March would be the weather.

Count me in for March. Let me know when and where. If any help is needed, just email me.

I am good for any week end in March except the first one(6-7). Yes, That's drill.

General consensis seems to lean toward mid March. Lets shoot for a tenetive date of Saturday March 20, the first day of spring. :-) This is still open for discussion. Lets confirm the date before we debate the location, although Charlotte seems to be the favorite choice. :D Hans

Hansmanbo

So far no negative input on the date! :o Discussion on a location is now open. Gathering from the input, to date, Charlotte seems to be the central location, for all those who have shown interest. This would be my first choice, but is still open for discussion 8) Hans

Charlotte does seem to be pretty central for folks...except for ElCaFreak! How'd things go in the fall when folks met down at the Carowinds exit? That's an easy enough place to find...LOTS of parking...etc....

Hansmanbo
01-25-2004, 05:36 AM
That was a good place but were asked to leave after dark due to their security concerns. A park location may be more appropriate. Or we can adjust our times from noon till dark.

Hey, what the hell. I'm always up for a road trip. I'll be lookin to break in the engine rebuild by then. And I'll get to meet other camino freaks. 8) I've got family in Va Beach anyways.

Tommy

A park like Reedy Creek would be good. Lots of parking, easy to get to( off Haris Blvd.) & on the North side for our more Northern brothers. Have any of you been there?

Sounds good to me. When is Myrtle Beach? It's sometime in March, but I'm not sure of the dates.
I'll have to get directions to Reedy Creek park. I'm fairly familiar with the area so it shouldn't be too hard to find. Looking forward to meeting some other Elky addicts.

Never been to Reedy Creek park. Sounds allright to me though. Lets not make final decision till next week or so, anticipating anyone elses input!

Tommy

Looks like you guys are coming along with your plans for a "meet and greet". Congrats. You all are lucky that the weather should be nice in March. Up here in the North East, it is still pretty crappy in March to make plans.

But.......
I just had to chime in to all my fellow Elky owners from the Carolina's area. Congrats on your Panthers getting to the Super Bowl, but sad to say, the New England Patriots are on to much of a roll. I'm looking forward to a good game next week, and then some serious celebrating!

GO NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS!

Tommy
01-25-2004, 09:52 PM
Man, I beg to differ. The heart & drive the Panthers have right now is going to be to hard to stop. It should be a good game with the Panthers ending up on top. GO CAROLINA PANTHERS!!

Hansmanbo

Don't know if I can make it or not, but I sure would like to attend the next Zone Meet. If it is in Charlotte that is fine, just a three hour drive for me, but what the heck!

Please send our e-mail when the date and time is set. Will make it if at all possible.

Now THAT's a DEVOTEE!!! :D You're MORE than welcome to come!!!

ElCafreak...i'm not sure if you realize it or not..but Va. Beach is ~7-8 hours from Charlotte...if you don't get caught in the interstate construction! It's just about the same distance from Charlotte as Pitsburgh

Here is the site to get directions & info on the park. As you will see it should be easy to get to. I was thinking of meeting in the first or second part. Lots of parking & open areas. What would be a good time to meet on the 20th? I was thinking noon or 1 because we are still having shorter days. What do you guys think? http://www.charmeck.org/Departments/Park+and+Rec/Places+To+Go/Parks/ReedyCreekPK.htm#virtual

Hans, I have to ask this. Do we eat lunch prior to or all go together during the meet? I could get a big bucket of KFC for us to eat at the park.

Hansmanbo
02-14-2004, 11:28 AM
In all fairness, so no member feels obligated, to contribute anything but their presence, I would say either eat first, or pack a picnic basket and BYO everything. I feel these Meet & Greets need to remain simplistic. If you feel motivated to bring a bucket of chicken, I'll be happy to help you eat it! Hans

Tommy
02-14-2004, 12:08 PM
I'm sure I would not have to bend any arms to eat chicken! It was only an idea. 8-)
