Hi from WI, folks. New on the web site and think its a cool site. I have a
69' El Camino I pickup about a year ago as a project car. I intend on restoring her as close to factory while still keeping some of the modern creature comforts, A/C, Cruise Control, and the comfortable leather bucket seats that she has. I checked places out here in the Sturgeon Bay area for getting the seats releathered. All the furniture restoration joints chase me off. I talked to a few automotive upholsters who tell me forget it, to go buy them plastic or fiberglass buckets. Economies not too hot right now, and besides truck drivers don't make much money, so money might be a small issue as to "WHATS IT GOING TO COST ME TO GET THIS SEATS REFURBISHED BACK TO SOMEWHAT HALFWAY DECENT CONDITION?" Whooo, sorry for yelling, just had to get that off my chest. No kidding guys, These are the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in at 90+ MPH. Helppp

Any idea what the seats came out of? If so you may find an upholstery kit online someplace. Other then that you'll have to talk some one into recovering them for you locally. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply Tom. I have no idea what the buckets came out of but I get the feeling from looking at other buckets that it came out of a Chevelle. They have the same chrome buttons on the back near the center. As far as getting a recovering kit online, I have never attemped to recover any seat with the exception of putting seat covers on. I do have a copy of Super Chevy from a few months ago that did a real good job of recovering seats, both buckets and bench. I guess I'll have to go back and review the article, and figure out how to do it my self.
