I just joined last week. I am currently shopping for my first (and probably only) El Camino. Looking for a 3rd generation for a daily driver. Been living in Charleston, SC 7 yrs. Originally from Tinley Park, Il.

Got some tips for me as a shopper? I'm looking for something that runs real well, not necessarily matching numbers, want to be an SS with a 350 V8, auto, AC. Racing Stripes and bucket seats a bonus. In the 5K to 8K range.

What should I be looking at under the hood in terms of condition? I do plan to get whatever car(s) I'm interested in checked out by a licenced mechanic because I'm not really mechanically knowledgeable. I will be bringing someone with more knowledge than I have with me....

I'd be looking more at body condition and the interior...

Thanks for any tips (I am thinking of going to the Charlotte Spring Show if they have one).

The Charlotte Spring Autofare is usually held the first weekend of April at Lowes Motor Speedway. A few of us will be there.

That is a pretty sharp one, and pretty near me, etc.

I had seen that one 1-2 days ago. I think my only reservation was the color of the seats- that certainly is a color you don't see much on cars anymore.....

Of course, seat covers (if they make them for bench seats) could take care of that...

Thanks for the tip, Deb
