Hey, thought i would just drop in and say hello as there are a few elkies joining our club Utez.com (http://www.utez.com). We are an australian based ute club. I have always found the elkies to be unique so i thought i would have alook at what you have to offer. I drive a 1990 VG Holden Ute.

So - Rear wheel drive and an LT-1 motor on that Ute of yours? It would appear that there are a lot of cool cars being built / exported to Australia that we in the states are not allowed to purchase. Sucks being us, huh??

We do get the Maloo I believe it is named - rebadged as the GTO from Pontiac - that's a good start . . . . .

The rest of us have to work with our rusty old iron as the last good car we know of stopped production here in 1987.

Good to see we are spreading around the globe with the Elky and Ute family . . . . .

Oh man..you're just teasing..that only makes it worse :(

Y'know, while it's a costly, screaming nightmare to import a non-US-spec motor vehicle into the US, and while there would be no warranty coverage whatsoever and serious problems getting parts, I declare it is so very tempting to try it anyway.

What if a bunch of us got together and split the service cost for a Commercial Importer to enable itself to bring these babies into the US, then did a group order?

Sadly, too expensive and risky. Besides, since no US company or bank would finance them it would have to be all cash-on-the-barrelhead.

May the Monaro-derived GTO sell well, so maybe GM will extend their joint projects to the Ute family. From what I hear, it's being reasonably well received by the press.

Or I could move to Australia!
