I have a 1986 El Camino and I am not sure what it really is. It has pin stripes along the sides rather than chrome and it has an air dam under the front bumper like a Super Sport. There is no mention of Super Sport any where on the body however. I have a 1986 brochure with a picture of one just like it, but it does not tell just what it is. I would attach a picture or two for all to see if I could figure it out how to do it.

Anybody got the answer to this question for me?

If your Service Parts Identification sticker is still on the inside of the golvebox door look to see if it contains option Z15 (Super Sport).

Thank You Dan Smith for your reply. Looking at the pictures in your post about Fifth Generation Super Sports, my 1986 looks exactly like the picture of the "87 you are showing. Big Jay

Also look for your build sheet. On the backside of your headliner, under seats or inside doors. My 78 is a SS per my sheet taped to the back of the headliner.

You might also check the VIN numbers. They're is a section here in the Elky site that will help.

1968 is the only year you can tell if an El Camino/Chevelle was a Super Sport by looking at the VIN.
For the other years you'll need the "build sheet", invoice, or the Service Parts Identification sticker.

I followed instructions and sure enough on the Option Card inside the glove compartment, there is a Z15 near the end of the list.

I appreciate all the input and thanks for helping me figure it out. No where else could I find this information.
