I was thinking about what to do with my elky... (http://unixninja.net)

It's a 1980. Not completely original by any means.

Dual front headlights (on an 80? WRONG).

So yeah, it was probably smashed.

It had a baby v8 at birth. Today it has a 350.

That aside, I'm wondering if anyone here has experience in stripping the interior out of an elkly and putting in a mild roll cage. Sort of a "mad max" style. :)

Because ultimately, I want to drop a 454 in it, in front of a THM400-R3 torturing some 4.11 gears. And it'll have a roll cage.

So who's stripped the interior of their truck and has comments on how to rebuild?

(as we all know the idea of a roll cage in an elky is to strengthen body and frame to handle the greater torque of larger engines 8-)

Thanks again for your invaluable comments.

All depends on how much of a roll bar you want. 4 point,8 point, ect. Anyone you choose though will require a lot of cutting and fitting as I don't believe the aftermarket makes a unit.

Here's a few pics. of some Elky's with rollbars to give you some ideas.

I've torn an 80 down to nothing and am rebuilding it to something.

Good Luck on the project

I'm a huge Mad Max fan, and I just wanted to say that your Elco looks killer. Need to hook that baby up with a roof & bed spoiler and some MFP decals and you would be set!
