Tuggy24g 08-04-2008, 02:04 AM That thing must be fast. Engine looks good in the car.
Steve81OR 08-06-2008, 02:07 AM My guess would be in the 300 HP range, maybe more depending on what other goodies you have installed.

I live in Salem, I was just in Eugene Aug 2nd for a wedding. Drove my El Camino down for the wedding "parade".
There isn't really much happening here for Elkys specifically, but I don't get out of this area much because of my work schedule.
vandal 08-07-2008, 08:19 AM does the a&w on lancaster still have a cruz? if they do mebbe we will havta meet there sometime !! [good excuse for a road trip !!] and thx for the guesses, 200-250 seems right by seat of pants, but still dont have timing right ! :?
Steve81OR 08-07-2008, 09:32 PM does the a&w on lancaster still have a cruz? if they do mebbe we will havta meet there sometime !! [good excuse for a road trip !!]
I'm not sure about A&W, never been there. I live about 15 miles east of Salem (in Stayton) and work graveyard shift, so I don't get out to cruise-ins very often. But if we can find an event, I'll try to make it out to meet you.
It took me a while to get the timing set right during the break-in period for the engine. I now have it set to about 10 degrees advanced and the vacuum advance is connected on the HEI distributor I installed. Runs great and no more hesitation.
vandal 08-23-2008, 10:43 PM finally got timing right !! http://elcaminocentral.com/modules.php?full=1&set_albumName=vandals&id=burnout_1&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php i know i know i should know better... :cool:

awest 08-24-2008, 06:24 AM Not meaning to be a S.A., but FYI, isn't a MOTOR electricaly driven and an ENGINE is internal combustion driven?
ENGINE= internal combustion.
MOTOR= electrical.
Just my 2 cents, but terminolgy is key importance !
464elky 08-24-2008, 06:42 AM awest, your going anal on us. LOL
Motor = external power source
electrical, steam, wind, water, etc.
Engine = Internal power source
gasoline, kerosene, diesel, etc
vandal 08-24-2008, 08:27 AM when ur right yer right ... lol :-)
awest 08-24-2008, 10:34 AM Yes, I agree about being anal on this, BUT, like I said, terminolgy is crucial when nameing parts and componets.
We need to know what we are talking about.
So, Vandal, who is correct?
vandal 08-24-2008, 10:47 AM ill never tell... lol have had this same discussion over the years never been able to definately define the term(s).... :D
awest 08-24-2008, 02:29 PM Good answer and I appreciate your comment.
Yes, I agree, is hard to tell the difference.
I am going by what I was taught in trade school between the difference.
I agree, will be a never ending discussion on the proper titles.
CoyoteOn2 08-24-2008, 05:35 PM LIKEWISE (not trying to be a S.A.) If we were all experts in the field of Automotive, I think most would not be here. There for ~~~ for those of us that are not experts that would be a sad day. Most of us will never be experts, (if any at all), for that I'm grateful, that affords me the opportunity to expand my knowledge in what we all do here. By sharing.
So thanks to all, keep sharing, I for one am grateful.
