anyone happen to know the stock paint colors of a 1983 el camino? Today (saturday Jan18) i went and seen a 1983 el camino a guy was gonna sell to me for 300 bucks. the car needs a new starter but thats about it. its has a v6 of somesort in it also. Im going to be upgrading this to a Chevy V8 350 or 400 and a 700R4 transmission with a Torque Converter Lockup Kit. This body on the el camino is rough. No heavy rust but some rust. paint is flaking off also, and the bench seats' driver seat is tore up. I plan on replacing the bench with 2 bucket seats. floor pan may need some work. I was also thinking of getting a fiberglass hood but i was reading u guys like the metal better. What about the el camino trick bed lids? does the fiber glass suck on that application to? Anyone got any links to get metal hoods for a 83 elky? ill think of anything else later. i think in a week or so im going to go pickup this el camino.

You can be like me. My 78 Elky isn't even close to the original colors. Mine was a two tone light tan on beigh. It was a nice car however I didn't totally like the colors so I changed it to a black and metallic blue. Something that looks nice together. Yes the interior needs to be changed. The interior is going to be a blue interior so that will be my project after the car is fixed up body wise. So try and make it your own car also.
