I'm very new to the site, today! Anyway, this looks like a good place to find out some info about my 80 elky royal knight. What does anyone know about these cars/trucks? Years produced, numbers, etc..? I have only seen 1(other than my own) on the road. I think this was a dealer option, but? I bought the car 15 years ago and enjoyed it for 5 or 6 years, it has lived in a shed ever since. It's not in very good shape, lots of Wisconsin winters, but thinking about doing some work on it. Just curious what anyone knows. I apologize in advance if this has been asked before, I didn't want to spend all afternoon sifting thru the forums. Thanks for any info!!

Since this is your first post let me explain something. You don't have to sift through all of the forums. There is a link to the ECC search engine at the top of each forum page. Type in "Royal Knight" and all posts with those terms will be listed. I understand that you don't want to sift through all the forums, but what makes you think we want to answer the same question 100 times?
If the previous posts that the search engine finds don't help you out then ask your questions and the many knowledgeable people here will attempt to help you.

It was a Chevrolet option on top of the Super Sport option.

Ouch, sorry to step on so many toes with my first post! I performed the search process and did learn a few new things about my elky. The article noted the package was offered 79 thru 83, but really doesn't get in to specifics like numbers produced. Basically I'm wondering if improving the truck would be worthwhile(not like this site isn't biased!) Any other tidbits of info on this model would be interesting! Thanks, J

Your not stepping on anyones toes. If its an El Camino it is worth fixing up doesn't matter the model. What everyone was trying to say was
Welcome to ECC / NECOA! We're glad that you found us and we'll help when we can. Bunches of topics have been discussed in these hallowed pages and the search engine is a "big block" lots of power etc...
The El Camino in my thoughst is "A two seat sport car with a Bed for insurance purposes." You also have a year that is pretty easy to locate parts for and some custom items to dream about or purchase.
GM Didn't keep a lot of totals as far as how many SSs were sold in the history or how many blue cars or trucks were made in a certian year. Theirs is more like 49,000 were manufactured during 19XX. I wouyld assume that somewhere there could be a brakedown but basically if its an Elky then its worth fixing up.! 8)
