At the moment there are two official 50th Anniversary celebration locations, Carlisle, PA and Bakersfield, CA. There is a strong possibility of a third in Florida.

I'd like to see one somewhere in the midwest such as St. Louis or Chicago. Is there anyone here willing to take the reigns on this to set a date? All you need to do is set up a tent or table at a big show, fly the banner, and welcome the Elkys!

Actually if anyone in any region wants to help spread the celebration let me know. As I said above, it doesn't take much to do it, an EZ-UP or table, our 50th banner and advertise for Elky's to come. There is a possibility we'll have items for goody bags you can give out also, I'm working on some nice dash plaques for anyone who participates.

Also, as long as the show is after Carlisle your event will be mentioned in the Carlisle official catalog in an article on the 50th Anniversary. You'll have good publicity.

Anyone doing this please let me know as soon as you have a date, the sooner the better. Your best bet is to simply be part of some big show in your area.

Of course the green emblem you see below will also change to reflect your dates.

What is the heads up on Florida so I can get with the idea man behind this , I already have the banner and have been on many show commitees and would probably be of some help (maybe?)
I still have Carlisle on the board but two celebrations is better than one!

For FL you can contact Ken (MC87SS) he's possibly working something out with the Monte Carlo group. There isn't any date set yet.

I remember the days living in Palmdale CA. I would always past Bakersfield CA to go to Vegas and seeing the big thermometer

We have added Canby Oregon to the list of official 50th Anniversary Celebrations. The show is held by the Chevelle and El Camino Club of Oregon (CECCO). They are offering free admission to any 1959 El Camino that registers for the show to help promote the anniversary. You can watch for updates here: CECCO Website (http://www.chevelles.net/oregon/index.htm)

Canby is located about 30 miles North of Salem / South of Portland on Interstate 5. The show will be held July 19th at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds.

I'll start calling local motels to see if they can reserve rooms. I'll get them to block off as many rooms as they can, so if you think you may need a room, PM or email me so I can make sure we have enough rooms reserved.

I beleive I can scare up a place to hold a 50th. North East, a few miles, of Lansing Michigan.

Great! The more locations the better. Keep me posted and once you have the date and location I'll add it to the final list.

As for the banner, you can purchase it at any time through quintonsdusty, he's handling that end. No goody bags, sorry, that will be up to each organizer. We'll be doing some nice ones for the Carlisle kickoff but all subsequent events need to be put together by each organizer. One thought though, as I build a list of companies donating to the Carlisle Goody Bags I'll post them here so you guys can also approach them.
