Well I thought it would get more exposer in the general BS then just region 3. More people talk here.
Second to all the other members I am sorry, but I the club is really for region 3 members. It like the yesterday Chevelle and El Camino club. They really do not really have show/ events outside of two states (WA and OR)

Don't feel bad it's a big country. I get excited to see a club open up here in Texas only to find it's 500 miles away! Gas being $4.00+ a gallon, me having a 396 that drinks more of it than I do of water, and the fact I do have to work, well the only club I have (besides ECC of course) is the one on my steering wheel!
Good Luck

Well last year was a bust. There was not one EL Camino memeber from this site to come out to one of the shows that I made schedules for. So I am about to give up on this since no one is really interests in joining. I mean people agree to join, but when times come no one wants to make the trip to the show if they do not live right around the corner from it. That is the problem that I have. If people are truly willing to join me I will sure do it and make a website. I will do the whole 9 years, but I will need more then one member willing to join me.

Simply i would never really wish to take part in a dispersion of an El Camino Car club because simply why branch off ECC when ECC itself IS a car club.

In all technicality ECC is a full fledge car club. It has just been more of a Forum based club than others, in fact i'd be willing to bet over 50% of this club exists because of it. Not a bad thing, it's just the way it rolled out.

I would be interested in having monthly/weekly ECC meets.
and i would be interested in having annual/bi-annual ECC meets.

and i believe that ECC could become more than the Pay-Pal donations taken for the website and the T-****s. The only problem i have about starting to point out how they money in ECC is run, is simply i DONT know how it flows. As long as the ECC site is up i'm 100% happy.

If the regions could decide on getting clubs dealing with ECC together that would be fantastic.

One idea i did have as far as raising doh though; In a car club you always have the Daily Drivers and the Show Cars, so if you hosted a judging contest where as those who enter (for a small fee of 5-10$) would get to cast their vote for those cars (not of their own) would win such classes. It would be a planned to be worked out in more detail when it becomes more finite.

I think sometimes honestly the only problem i have about voicing my opinion about how things should be done or could be done, is i dont know how they work as it is. I dont know who technically is the "head" of the show around here. I dont suppose any ONE person could take charge of such a large group, but there are MODS and such, I've just never taken the time honestly to sit down and figure all the odds and ends of ECC out.

I love the site, im a big supporter of it, and honestly i think that there shouldn't be another. (just my .02c but i dont think you should advertise another forum of the same exact con-tense on here either.) HOWEVER, to each their own and i could really care less what all the people do in this world! lol as long as it dont effect me none, im all peachy.

i'll get off my soap box now, but i just think that ECC should be resurrected in the physical world, actual meets, events, things we can put on our awesome ECC CALENDARS!!!!

or maybe im just already going insane...:dontknow:

Mr Cryptic, the club is NECOA (National ElCamino Owner's Association). The hosting website is ECC.
IMO I think NECOA should become a dues based club with local chapters or regions. Nothing too expensive, maybe like $25-$30/yr. Each chapter/region could hold mini-meets and go to other shows as a club.
This way it could all come together. Our dues could be used to help sponsor shows like Leo was asking for. It wouldn't matter where each member lived because each chapter/region would get their turn.

Well I wanted to start my own car club based sole on El Caminos because there is not one in or near me to join. Second I see different El Camino driving around the area every now and then. So I know if I could get something rolling more would join.

The reason I do not want to just have a branch group of El Camino central is because region 3 does not have to many members who talk on here regularly. So everyone I had join a branch club of ECC would have to join here and then join mine. If they wanted info about anything would all be on here and if they did not like that I would then have to make my own web page. SO then it would shy away from this site and I would make a link to this site, but who to say anyone would join. So it becomes a bigger ordeal that would be easier to just start my own club. I tried to start a club with people on this forum and no one is really interested so that is also another reason to just start my own thing.

:dontknow: HUH ??? WHAT are you saying?
Or trying to say?
Sorry, I read it 4 times, and can't figure what it is your saying.
Must be my OLD age or something.
I know I'm not in Region 3, and it most likely does not concern me in any case.
But it's posted, so was just curious.
Could you maybe expand on this in maybe terms that an old man might be able to make heads or tails out of.

Everyone was telling me that I am already part of a club ECC. So I should not be making a new club altogether and just use the region forums as my club. I was telling them that we do not have many members who are from region 3 that talk on here. So trying to make a club out of 3 guys is really hard. Also I tried to get some sort of El Camino central club together last year and no one wanted to come out. I sent them a list of clubs to meet at and yet no one wanted to make the trips out to them. So doing an El Camino central club/meets is not really working on region 3.

This is EXACTLY what I've been saying for three years now but never could get anywhere with the admin. By making NECOA dues paying we could give the dues paying members special privileges here on ECC such as signature pictures, a member's only section, ability to sell in the classifieds, and others. My Lincoln club (www.lincolnsofdistinction.org) does exactly this at $20 a year and actually has enough funds to maintain it's servers, pay for Carlisle, and give money to local chapters for annual meets.

Unfortunately due to the sale of ECC to a commercial operation none of this may ever be possible.

Well if you're concerned about there not being enough region 3 fellas interested in coming out to your meets, or making one. Why not recuit more people in your local area to JOIN ECC? :poke:

all these links and more links to other places with link could really confuse some people :poke:

And if Ken can do it in all of TEXAS:texas: lol i think it's fairly feasible for any other region :nanawrench:

Tuggy24g
03-08-2010, 06:27 PM
Well you guiys have atleast 30 guys who are from texas that talk on here so that is one reason it can work out fine for you guys. Here there is really only 5 EL Caminos I have ever seen in car shows and 3 just driving around. So it is really hard toget enough people to join here based on that. I am just hoping I can get like 6 guys from here who will join me and then I hope I can get more people who will join me locally. Then I will tell them about this site and I hope the rest will be history.

03-08-2010, 11:04 PM
you know Tuggy, if you're having troubles in finding "El Camino" specific owners, why dont you broaden your range. (IE: "Gbody" or "Malibu") Alot of the owners of Malibu's do like el caminos, it's practically the same car.

The problem you seem to be running into is a lack of local people, broaden your search for what you want to start for a local regular show. "classics" or "trucks" would definatly bring you some members if you're looking for a car show. Granted you wont have all Elky owners, but if they are as scarce as you say they are there... you'll be lucky to get what you can :poke:

All i can suggest is physical recruiting it seems to really bring out the honesty in people when you shake their hand and invite them personally to be a part of a group.

03-12-2010, 07:22 PM
I was thinking about doing something like that. Setting up a club called 08's muscle. It would be all different type of cars build in the 80's. I just want to do just an EL Camino club since there are ones all over the US, but not in my area or close to mine. Maybe if I started my own website or just meet people locally they would join a club. Who know? Maybe this year will be better.
Also do not forget to come to the first meeting for region 3 in July 11!
