I recently had to do something about the silver (chrome) trim lines on my dash and bezel. Quite by accident I found a dynamite trick. I went into a craft/hobby shop. in my case "Hobby Lobby". I went to the plastic model car section thinking I might find a bottle of paint and a paint brush for the task. What I did find was a "silver" paint dispensing majic marker. all I had to do was shake the ball in the tube to mix up the paint and pump the tip on some old cardboard to get the flow started. Then just run the felt tip down the ridges on the dash where the silver had warn off. No muss, no fuss, no clean up or bad brush marks.
I was amazed how great it looks and how easy it went on. I got the last one in the store leaving only other colors, so if you don't find the silver, get the store to restock or check another hobby store. It is made by "Testors" and they call it an "Enamel Paint Marker". No kidding, it looks like the factory original.

I've done that trick with other cars...and it DOES work GREAT!!! The only thing i can think to add to your tip is to make sure and THOROUGHLY clean and degrease the panel to insure good/even adhesion of the paint! http://www.corvetteforum.net/c4/alchemist/thumb.gif
