My Right Blinker doesnt work and i cant figure it out. Like the other guy,the light on the dash that blinks with the blinker is always on but doesnt blink. When I flip up the switch to turn it on, it still doesnt work. Has a brand new bulb and wiring is good.

Did you check all the right side blinker bulbs, did you use the correct bulb(s)? Check socket(s) for corrosion on contacts.

Please help me find my problem. Ive replaced the flasher, the bulbs, the whole blinker switch/cam unit, checked for corrosion, checked thegrounds, and I still cant find the problem, My inspection expired in December and I really need to find the problem. :?

Do the lights come on for your turn signals the same way - on but not flashing? Including the front marker light?

If the exterior lights work OK, and the only problem is the indicator light in the dash, the problem is probably the printed circuit on the back of the gage panel or the gage panel connector plug.

Yes, the exterior light comes on but wont flash.

take the lens cover off the front bulb and run a wire to a good ground
if that works fix the ground to the light if not try the rear one
you have a bad groung at one of the lights

I added a ground and it didnt work. I also checked the wiring along the front end and it all seems to be good. Im probably going to just take it in to a shop, because I am getting frustrated with it, unless anybody has anyother ideas that I could check first. :-(

did you try to put the ground at the brass part of the bulbs front the lens side?????

I just did this on my '82. There is a nasty factory crimp connector that is causing your problem. It is in the conduit that runs in front of the radiator and behind the grille. figure out which wire is the wire that powers the turn signals and cut it. you now have two pices, now solder a long piece of 18 guage wire to the wire that runs through the conduit to the right side. go to the right side and pull it through until you can see the new piece of wire. cut the wire with near the the connector that has several wires that power the turn signal on the right side and cut the new wire and solder it where you cut the near the turn signal and solder up the lefty side so you get power to the whole circuit. and there you go. if you have any questions about what I just said, e-mail me at Elcaminoboy@networld.com.

I've noticed one thing in all the posts that was not mentioned. Do your emergency flashers work? If they do at all four corners, your problem is not in the wiring. It's quite possible that if the four-ways work, then you may be mistaking the four way flasher assembly for the signal light flasher. Turn your emergency flashers on and feel the flasher for it's pulse. Is it the flasher you changed? If it is, change the other flasher. I'm not positive, but I believe the emergency flasher is the easy one to find because it's located in the fuse box. The signal light flasher is usually located on either the left or right side of the steering column near the bottom edge of the dash. It's usually a poke and hope method in finding it when you can't feel or hear the pulse of the flasher. Good luck, and let us know what you find.

I just realized that my electrical gremlin was in the running lights but not the turn signal or 4-way flashers. However, I don't see a reason for the turn signal wire to be the same knd of thing.

Soes aanbody have a better explanation of where it is, or maybe a pictuer of where it is?

If you still can't find the flasher next to the steering column, turn on the left signal and use a short piece of tubing or hose as a directional hearing enhancer (put one end to your ear) to locate the click-click sound. :D

Sadly, if the flasher is not working, you're not going to hear it.... I went out and checked where mine was located. I found it on the right side of the column in a clip, about one inch from the bottom lip of the dash, towards the steering wheel. It was actually attached to the column. I can't explain it any better - you really have to feel for the flasher. You won't be able to see it unless you're a contortionist. The flasher is usually the same size as the one used for the emergency flasher. Good luck!

Travis, I have read about your problem with the flasher and what you have changed. The thing you have not mentioned is the light socket. I just went through the same problem with my 83 checked all the wiring and everything checked fine but the turn signal would not flash at the left rear. I finally got fed up and changed the light socket and every thing worked fine. What I have found is that from time to time the ground in the socket is bad or the bulb fits loosly and that will cause one or both elements not to work. It is simpler than changing the whole harness you might want to check if you have not yet done so. Harald K.

Harald is right, those things don't last forever. I had to replace a few of mine in the past.

One addtional comment regarding the light sockets if you go to the local parts store you canget the el cheapo made in where ever, which will last for about 4 months if it works at all. Go for a original the parts store can get it for you or go to the junk yard and find a couple that look pretty good. When it comes to car parts it is hard to beat made in the USA. Good luck.
