Anyone know where I can get a new reproduction dash for my 73. It is a down the road project, once I get the new one I can take the old one out and fix all the stuff inside (I am going to get new clear plastic for the gauges). It will be a 3 day weekend project.

If you find someone the makes them let me know, I haven't found one yet.
You can get your dash redone though, gets expensive.
This is one company that restores them - http://www.justdashes.com/dash_resto.html
Some of these do restos as well 8) http://www.carestoration.com/restorat.htm

I think I'll do what they do at the restoration shop. It's not that bad but has a cover. When I remove the dash & fix the small prob (1 full weekend). I will fill with bondo sand smooth and paint it all black. I think that will look ok.

Hey guys! I too, have a 73 with a dash that went years ago. I found an online store that sells it, either with or without A/C vents. They got a bunch of other El Camino stuff too. I havent purchased anything from them yet (anyone have, please post) but here it is-

Theres always ebay, or craigslist, but be carefull of the shoddy stuff people sell. Take care

What they sell is a cap that you glue down with silicone sealer to the old pad. They do not fit perfect and vary by manufacture. Mine turned out pretty decent taking my time and following how another member did his! (mayhem)
Look for a post 73 laguna front on a 77 and on page 7 or so he starts showing how he did his.

Thanx Papa john! Wow, mayhem goes into detail! I used to work in the auto body business years ago, but never touched the interiors. Mainly did prep, paint, dents etc. We had guys specialized in interiors, frame straightening etc.
Some tricks if anyone reading this is looking to get one of the classics-the magnet never lies, and will tell you if theres bondo behind that fresh paint  Take a magnet with you when you check out ANY classic ride. Also...Bodymen use undercoating to hide welding, rot and other nightmares. Excess undercoating should tell you something.
Also-I didnt know some montes dashes might match an el caminos. My dash is horrible, but the bottom section is spotless.
I also ordered the free catolog from the el camino store a few days ago, and got it today. Alot of cool stuff if you want to bring your elky to factory fresh, but pricey on a few things. God bless the junkyards!

as far as the new plastic for the gauges, i wouldnt spend more than 5 bucks if the part is offered in an elco catalog. when i bought my car, the dash clear plastic was fogged up over the years, i just took off the entire front gauge panel, took off the old plastic, found some pieces of fiberglass layin around, cut to size, stick on, and voila!
