My headliner overall is in excellent condition and would like to repair than replace. The problem is the headliner has pulled away from the rear window. It is right in the centre and about 10 inches in length. The windlace will not pinch the rail and there is very little material to work with. Tried to hot glue the vinyl back to the pinch weld but no luck. Need some advice if anyone has tackled this before.

If the headliner is still in good condition then use some contact cement on both surfaces. Let it tac then using a close pin ot a Paper clamp, not clip, put that or those over the area that you need to stay in place. Leave it there for 24 hrs, just in case. That should do the trick. Put the window lac back over it.

I think you can get new window lace at OPGI or other El Camino supply places. I know you can get it from OPGI, I should have said.

The headliner has shunk over time & pulled away from the edges. Try to reglue like Pete said.
